Simple and readable for web and apps. It started with Persian in mind, so check letterforms and digits with your Arabic text.
Picking an Arabic font from a ready-made image or from its name alone is misleading: a face that looks elegant in a big headline can get cramped in a small button, or its numbers look odd next to the text. The previewer shows your own text in 16 Arabic families from Google Fonts side by side, and lets you control size, weight, line height and background.
Each font has a card with its style (Kufi, Naskh, modern sans or display), where it works best, a suggested Latin pairing, a small line with numbers and currency, and CSS ready to copy. All the fonts are free under the SIL Open Font License, and I checked that each one exists on Google Fonts and supports Arabic.
Your text stays in your browser: it isn’t sent, stored or put in a link. The fonts themselves load from Google Fonts, as on the rest of this site, so Google receives the request for the font files (their names and weights) and your device’s IP address, but not the text you type.
The previewer shows 16 selected families, not every Arabic font. Fonts load from Google Fonts, so you need an internet connection, and rendering can differ slightly between browsers and operating systems. Weights a family doesn’t have are replaced by the nearest one it does, and the card says so.
